One minute ago this buck crossed the front yard. My desk faces the window and I had finished writing my weekly thank you notes. I looked up to discover this young buck. He looked confused by the passing traffic on our busy street. He abruptly turned and ran to the woods in the backyard where the city reservoir begins.
We have landed in a great place. So unexpected. And those thank you notes… appreciation for the many acts of kindness and hospitality shown to us since we arrived on the west side of the bay. This morning I began reading The Sankhya Karika, ancient teachings originated in 2500B.C.E. at the breakfast table looking into the backyard where the trees are beginning to drop their leaves and the body of water behind is slowly being revealed day by day.
